Welcome to the Gator Nation Coach Napier
After graduating from Furman University, Billy Napier started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Clemson before being hired as the Quarterbacks coach at South Carolina State in 2004. A year later, he was back at Clemson splitting time as tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator under Tommy Bowden. After Bowden retired, Napier was appointed QB coach by Dabo Swinney and assisted with play calling duties for the remainder of the season.

From 2010 to 2017, Napier made the coaching rounds. He worked under the likes of Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney, Jim McElwain Jimbo Fisher & Todd Grantham. He worked as QB coach, TE coach, offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator before getting his shot at a head coaching position.
In December 2017, Napier was named as the Head Coach at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. Over his four years as head coach, his teams finished with a cumulative record of 40-12, including a perfect record against division members of the Sun Belt West Division, four consecutive West Division titles, four straight bowl appearances, a share of the Sun Belt title in 2020 and as the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Champions.
Napier grew up in Chatsworth, Georgia, and graduated from Murray County High School in 1998. He is married to the former Ali Gunn and the couple has a daughter, Annie, and sons, Sammy Nelson and Charlie. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health & Exercise Science from Furman in 2002.
